1. The Pondicherry
Water sports and scuba diving are no longer just available on the Andaman Islands, Thailand's islands, or the Maldives' islands! One of the greatest locations to begin your scuba diving adventure or simply get a taste of it is Pondicherry. It may surprise you to learn that whale sharks frequently visit the clear blue waters off the coast of Pondicherry, as well as providing excellent visibility on clear days! Ocean lovers can experience a multitude of marine life, manmade and natural reefs, and even a shipwreck while scuba diving in Pondicherry.
2. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Havelock Island
Some of the top dive locations in the world are found in Havelock. "Johnny Jackson Dickson" is a name you would be familiar with if you are into scuba diving. Havelock's well-known deep diving spots are named for the three brothers who found them on the island. These locations have an abundance of marine life and coral that you probably won't be able to fully appreciate! These locations are home to barracudas, sting rays, white tip sharks, and more. 3. The Goa
Scuba diving is only one of the many water sports that Goa has to offer if you look past the partying! If you want to explore what's beneath Goa's stunning waters, there are a few dive shops in North Goa. You can cross off diving on India's west coast from your bucket list by adding an extra day (or four, if you want to become certified) to your Goa schedule.
4. Tamil Nadu's Rameswaram
Despite its fame for Dhanushkodi, aptly named 'land's end', and the Ramanathaswamy Temple, Rameswaram remains unranked among India's top diving destinations. The popularity of scuba diving and water sports in Palk Bay, Rameswaram, has grown over time since the bay's waters are as serene as a lake on a peaceful morning. Although Palk Bay is not particularly deep, it is home to a wide variety of fish, large corals, and bamboo sharks! From the boat, you can see the corals below because the water is so clear here! 5. Lakshadweep's Kavaratti and Bangaram Islands
Nowadays, getting to Lakshadweep is challenging due to the complex permit process. Can you image, though, how stunning these islands must be, given how limited and restricted admittance is? The coral reefs and marine life surrounding the Lakshadweep islands are still unspoiled, which makes it an ideal location for scuba diving. Whale migration is reported to occur in the waters off the shores of these islands!
