Overview
Ladakh river rafting is an experience unlike any other. Nestled amidst the Himalayas, this challenging landscape boasts two quick rivers, the Indus and Zanskar, with thrilling rapids ideal for river rafting. Rafting the Indus River
The Indus River, locally referred to as the Singhe Khababs (out of Lion's mouth), travels from northwest to southeast across Ladakh. The river has its source in Tibet, close to the Kailash Mountain and Mansarovar Lake. It freezes over in the winter and swells dramatically from June to late August, when rafting is at its most popular.
River rafting excursions on the Indus take one to five days to complete. The majority of the river's rapids are classes I and II, while there are also occasionally grade III and even V rapids.

The Phey-Nimo route
This section of the Indus River is ideal for rafting. It begins in Phey Village, approximately 12 km from Leh, and ends at the Indus-Zanskar confluence at Nimo, approximately 36 km from Leh. The majority of the route's rapids are Grade II and III. The breathtaking scenery with towering ancient monasteries tucked among the valleys, small villages, and gorgeous mountains all add to the excitement.
Route Upshi – Kharu
The Upshi to Kharu route for river rafting in the Indus is not as challenging as the Phey-Nimo route. There are some Grade III rapids in the river in addition to a few Grade I and II rapids. Beginning from Upshi, which is roughly 90 km southeast of Leh, rafting follows the road that heads south to Manali and ends in Kharu.
Phey - Saspol
This exciting river rafting journey begins in Phey, approximately 8 km south of Leh, and concludes at Saspol, close to Alchi on the Leh-Srinagar Highway. This path is provided with a breathtaking view of the landscapes and the beauty of tiny hamlets on both sides of the Indus River, in addition to the excitement of the swift waters.

The Zanskar River, an Indus River tributary that flows north, is the ideal river for exhilarating river rafting in Ladakh. Zanskar, which is frozen in the winter and is well-known for the frozen Chadar trek, flows quickly in the summer and during the monsoon.
